Happy Holiday

  Hello all Happy Holidays Just wanted to wish you a safe and happy holiday. But first let me tell you my story for the end of the year. My real estate agent I have been working with came in with an offer all cash for my rental home I want to sell. It was the same offer from a different person that wanted the house for the same amount.  The offer was 50,000 less than what I was asking for the house. My real estate agent is pushing me to take the money that is being offered because it's all cash deal. He claims he had about 50-60 people look at the house already with no real offers since it's been listed with him. But mind you I have seen the sign in list when he does open houses and it's like 2-3 names on their tops. I had discussed the offer with my partner he thinks I should hold out for close to the price we want. The house is in a good neighborhood even though it's a small cottage type house. It needs no repairs it's move in ready.

I started to jump on the all-cash offer but something in my soul told me to wait and I prayed on it. My soul talked louder to me and told me the number I should get for my rental home. So that's what I'm going with my gut. I might have to get another real estate agent, but they are a dime a dozen in my area. So that wouldn't be a problem after the first of the year anyway.

Also, now I have to go shopping for a microwave mine blew out. Who knew microwaves cost as much as a stove nowadays. That's why I like my Walmart it's cheap for the stuff you need right now. Oh well that's my story before the end of the year

Sticker Shock!

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I got medical sticker stock this week. Every month my medical insurance sends out a statement saying how much they spent on you for the month in medical expenses and how much you paid. Well, I notice for me the insurance company paid over $2000 for my monthly medical expense. which the true cost of all my medical services that I received was $4500 a month. I said D**N!! that's a lot of money a month I would have to pay without medical insurance (excuse the French). That's why now I'm faced with a hard reality I have to chase the almighty dollar until I get on Medicare. Plus, I have to find another insurance company for my secondary because the one I have now will want $700 a month just for coverage. Which I know I can't afford.

 The holidays are fast approaching so what are you doing anything? My holiday decoration in a $3.50 poinsettia that's about all I'm doing for the holidays besides sending gift cards to a few people. My money is being saved for medical expenses plus dental and emergencies.

I am hoping 2024 is better health wise and money wise.  Wishing you all the very best be safe happy and blessed.

Not In The Mood

  Hello all well here's the story for the week, I am just not in the mood for doing the holidays this year. I know you're supposed to be cheery and happy but that's not me right now. Here's some reasons why. Come Jan 2024 I have to fire my real estate man I thinks he's blowing smoke up my butt. Sorry for saying that but he always has people coming into see the house I am selling but no offers as of yet. My patience is getting short with him. I gave him 3 chances and he is on his last chance as of January 2024.

The other reason is because my medical expenses and let's not forget my dental bills are crazy. I cracked a tooth yesterday which I need to get fixed. Thank God for medical insurance but still. If not for insurance I would be in trouble.

The cost of living in New York is getting to me everything is so darn expensive that you can't catch a break. Me being a cheapskate I still struggle. One month my energy bill might be $211 and the next month it $260. How are people supposed to live with jumps in basic necessities like that. People on fixed income are probably catching hell living in New York.

Sorry about the gripes I am grateful in all this that I can get up in the morning even with all my medical problems and believe me I have a few.

I Hate Mess

  Hello all well heres' the story for the week. I Hate Mess!!  Being older I hate to see mess of any kind. My contractor came a couple of days ago and he left a mess. Mind you I am paying him to clean up the mess. But since he had concrete work to do, he left the concrete bags the old garage door that he replaced, the old window he replaced. He even left his coffee cups that were empty on the floor. Did I mention I hate mess. So, when he left, I had to go outside and pickup what I could so the backyard where he's working will look a bit neat. He's not finished with the work, but I will be telling him when he comes back to try and be neater next time.

I go and check on my empty rental house once a week to make sure there are no problems that need to be taken care of. The house as of next year would be on the market for 3 years. I am really thinking about renting it for a year. Just to recoup the money I have spent to maintain it. I am talking energy, water, property taxes etc. Just the basic bills are costing me about $10,000 for the year that I don't have. So, renting it might be an option since the buying market for houses suck right now with the interest rates going up.

Is it just me but I am not feeling the holidays this year. What about you? Shopping for gifts and spending money is the least of my concerns with construction bills, basic housing maintenance bills, food bills, medical bills out the.... well, you know. All these bills are killing me and making me depressed. So, holiday shopping is not even on my mind this year. Besides I am a cheapskate I just send gift cards and I am done.

Dec Already???

 

Hello all well here's the story this week. It's December already and to me nothing is done. My 2nd home is still on the market. I know the economy is bad and people are not buying but it's going on 3 years now. Can a sista get some kind of offer on it. Also living in an old house t like I do that has 30-year-old appliances means that they will break down like my dishwasher did yesterday. I mean it still works but the springs that keeps the door closed is starting to act up. Meaning I need a new dishwasher. Which I really don't want because when I was growing up, I was the dishwasher in my household. Never had a dishwasher didn't need one back in the day.

So how was your Thanksgiving. Mine was quite had to throw out a ham that I had for over 5 years. Yes, it was on sale when I purchased it and I had it frozen, but the ham was dry as sand. No matter what I did to make it sweet. It still came out dry. So, I had to throw it out. I hate wasting food. Food cost too much to waste even if you did buy it on sale.

Told you about my contractor that now has a new deposit from me for work to be done on my old house. Well, he supposed to come after thanksgiving to start the work. I will be bugging him this week. So I can get a date for him to start his work since he got a check from me of $2000 as a deposit. Which I couldn't afford in the first place to give him. But my house is falling down, and you need money to put it back together. Thank god it's nothing major that needs to be repaired or I would really be in trouble. We are getting a new garage door, cement work done and some corking and trimming around the house. It's still expensive.

My washing machine went out a couple of weeks ago along with my freezer. I thought I had to get a new washing machine, but when the freezer went out I panicked there's a lot of food in the freezer that could go bad if it goes out. Thankfully my neighbor whos' aa electrician  came over and fixed the problem. It pays to have good neighbors especially when you in a crisis.

Happy ThanksGiving

  Hello all well just wanted to wish you a happy and safe Thanksgiving.  For me the story or can you say word for day is hope. I got some good news yesterday. My real estate agent said that he has a few people coming by to see the house  I have for sale this weekend. Which is a good thing . Now if I can get an offer it's even better.

I went to the bank yesterday and they were offering 5.5% on Cd.s  accounts. Which I have some money in  a CD account with this bank getting 2.4% interest. So the  banker talked me into closing the old Cd account and open a new one for 5.5% making me more interest. But first I had to take an early withdraw penalty fee hit which was over $500. That hurt me but in the long run I will make that money back and more because of the interest rates being higher.

I am having work done on the house I live in  through a contractor. I think I told you about. Contractors are so expensive. always tell them before you start any work that you want to see an estimated bill. If not they will rip you off on the material and labor. I had to go over the bill my contractor gave me . He was double billing me for stuff that should have come with the job. So I say always get a estimation on paper when you have work done on your home by anybody.

Helping Family

 

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. Helping family is hard. I know I'm trying to do that now. I have an aunt in her 80's that needs help with housing and her husband who has dementia. They are both struggling to find their way. Her more then him because she's trying to help him as best she could. But she needs help also. Their house needs major repairs and she gets taken  advantage of more then I care to remember. I always plead with her to let me help her but she refuses my help. This is frustrating to me on so many levels. You can't force someone to take help if they refuses it, but if you see they need help badly what do you do?

It's the holiday season coming up soon and I am not feeling any of it. If it was up to me I would just buy a cheap chicken get some side have a sweet potato pie and call it a day. I am ok passing on the family stuff . Since my family is far and few between. Meaning it's only like 3-4 of us still around. I am a quite person so I prefer the alone time for the holidays. All I need is  a good book, small dinner and  good desert.

So far the weather in New York has been good and the business of sell which I do to make extra money is slow. I sell collectable toys. While everything else that I'm trying to sell is slow as well but you know the rental selling house story. If my second home dosen't sell by next year. I might rent it out for the year just to recoup some of the money I am spending on  the house just to maintain it. I will let you know what I decide later. If Not One Thing

  Hello all well here's the story for the week if it's not one thing it's another. Meaning first off, I get this letter from the state saying that my Hyundai car that I purchased just last year it hot when it comes to people stealing them. They suggested that I take the car back to the dealership and have them put in a free anti-thief device. Which I plan on doing. I should have kept my old Besty of a car that was a 1989 ford escort that no car thief would even want for parts. She was old but she ran pretty good.

Next up is my realtor that supposed to be selling my second home. He claims he has a buyer for me, But she wants it for $50,000 less than what I am asking. Then my realtor keep say to me with the housing market the way it is. The buyer is offering you a good deal. I don't know whether to fire my real estate guy. Since he's lousy at his job or take the low-ball offer and be done with my second home. Since it is costing me about $10,000 in upkeep and I don't have a tenant in it at the moment.

Now my heath is supposed to be getting better but there might be another heath problem I have to deal with. Like I don't have enough already. But as they say as long as I can wake up in the morning. I am good.

I Never

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I never had to fire anybody before. But you know when you have to just bite the bullet and do it. I am talking about my real estate agent. I have given him 2 chances  to sell my house. With a chance it's like 3 months of selling. He actually had 6 months and not one offer. He has had so many open houses that people were getting tired of seeing  the signs and stop coming. I saw his guest book and it only had 2 people on it for the last 3 open houses. The house I am trying to sell has been sitting on the market for 2 years now. It's crazy. Thankful that I don't need the money right away because if I did I would have to sell the house for a loss. Which I can't afford.

On to the next problem well it's a good thing with the nice weather outside I have been walking alot got up to 3 miles in the park. Which is nice. Have to keep walking because of my heath issues. But I find I am enjoying walking especially if you have the right music . Walking helps you think better that's my opinion anyway.

Wasteful I been finding myself very wasteful with food lately. You know how expensive food is and I waste a lot of it. I would cook then order out the next day.So the food I cook would sit around in the refrigerator to long. So I would have to throw it out. I hate wasting food it to expensive and people are starving and here I'm throwing out good food for people to eat. Shame on me.

October Already?

  Hello All October already? Where has the time gone? Well here's the story for the week. October is my month because I get happy in October not sure why. I also spend a lot of money in October as well. So go figure. So far the life has been quite which is a good thing. But I have learned something to. I have an aunt that needs major help in the cleaning department. Her house is a step below a horders house. I try and help but she always refuses. Which makes me angry. I love her and I want to help but she always says she will get around to it. She just wants the company. Which I can be her company while cleaning. Am I wrong for continuing to offer her help when I know she really needs it but won't accept it?

Also I am still waiting on a buyer for my second home hopefully I will get one soon. But I am  glad for one thing I think I hit the jackpot when it comes to finding a contractor that actually called me back and will be working on the many projects that I have at home. The contractor is coming at a reasonable price under $4000. that includes the materials  that I need. I am putting in a new skylight on my porch, painting my small bathroom, covering for my stove, tiles for my kitchen floor plus other stuff.  I am grateful that he quoted me such a low price for all the works that needs to be done. Have you tried to get a contractor to work on your house? You can call them for days and they never get back to you. I miss the old days when you called contractors and they returned your call the same day. People are not reliable like they use to be.

Any way what are you doing for Halloween? Me I am trying to stay away from candy since I am a diabetic and it sucks because I love my sweets.

Walking

 

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. I been doing a lot of walking. I need to walk and watch what I eat heart reasons. Anyway. I seem to like walking better especially if you have some good music when you walk. I take music and I realize I can walk for miles and dance along the way. It makes you feel better trust me on this. Also, I told you about how the real estate people let somebody view the house that I was selling. Someone broke my sliding door to one of my closets. Well, the real estate company said they were going to fix it. That was 2 weeks ago. I had to call them to remind them that they are responsible for damages done to the house by their clients. I am so sick of dealing with trying to sell my second property. Who knew it would be this hard and this long. I just knew I would have sold it within a month of putting it on the market and here it is going on 2 years and no takers. Who knew!

Besides all of that it's getting cold here and New York and more expensive. I remember I use to pay maybe $60 dollar every 3 months for water which personally I think it should be free. Now I am paying like $150 every 3 months for water no less. New York is way too expensive for me and the good things about New York if there are any is not out weighting the expensive price to live here.

Every Felt Like..

                                                              Hello All 

Well, here's the story for the week. I have the Ho Hums. Here's the reason. Nothing seem to be working out for me let me explain. First you all know I am trying to sell my rental which has been on the market for almost 2 years now. I know that's a long time anyway it's not moving. Thinking about changing Real Estate companies again for the second or is it the third time. I just need that baby to sell so I can get on with my life and not have to pay property taxes on it again for 2023. The cost is killing me. Also did I mention they broke something in the house. I told the rental company they had to fix it since it was their responsibility. I tell you trying to sell a house is not easy.

Also trying to get contractors for a house is just as crazy because they never call you back. I need work done where I am living. I have called 3 contractors and they have not called me back. I tell you homeownership is not what it's crack up to be.

Between the medical issues that are occurring and the other life problems by life is full but not fun.  I think I need some fun in my life. Got any suggestions?

Hello There

 Hello all well here's the story after so many weeks. Trying to get my life back on track. I've been reading a lot of books. I love to read some are interesting others not so much. The house that I am trying to sell is still on the market with no buyers in site.  I have faith it's just not my time to sell that's all. I have not been motivated like I use to I blame it on all the medication I'm taking. I think it's making me crazy but don't tell anyone that's between you and me ( haha)

I have a new hobby.  I'm trying to learn to write a book or at least a short story. I am taking classes now which there is so much to learn about writing it's crazy and fun as well.  So far that's about all that I can think of. Things are moving slow in my life and maybe that's a good thing.

Trip

  Hello all I am back from the great vacation I call Atlantic City. So, here's the story for the week. I went on vacation for a few days to the beach in Atlantic City and to visit family. First the good thing was that I stayed in hotel for 3 nights and it only cost $119. Because I got 3 free comps nights. I also got free show tickets from Resort. The show was the 70's disco show it was ok for free what could you really say. The only thing that was crazy was the people it was so many. And they brought their kids with them You could not tell me that a gambling place like Atlantic City has now turned in to Disney land for kids. I will admit the weather was nice, The food not so much. We had good meals and bad ones. But I always bring breakfast with us so that was covered for 3 days. I did win some money, so it helped with our expenses. But overall, it was a nice vacation for it being 4 days.

On the home front still trying to sell my rental home. It's been a year now and I am starting to think that it won't sell. I am still trying to liquate my toy collections even that's slow. But I have to have patience right. Oh well that's my story for the week what do you think?

Going Crazy

Hello all well here's the story so far. You can't  tell me that I am not going crazy and here's why that I say this. Because I go from hot to cold nowadays. One minute I am nice and happy the other I want to fight somebody. I think it's the medication I take for my heart problem. It makes me crazy.  Here's something crazy for you.  I was trying to get free comp rooms in Atlantic City. When I called about the free rooms at the Resort Hotel. I was told that I could get 2 nights free as long as I paid the resort fess which is about $20 a night and room taxes. No problem but I needed an extra night. The women helping me book my hotel reservation said I could get an extra night for $79.00. I said ok I'll take it. So thought that I was getting 2 free nights and the 3rd night would be $79.99. Wrong

The women on the phone that was booking my hotel room in Atlantic city stated that if I get the 2 free nights then the 3rd night would be $237.00. I asked her what happen to it being $79. She said if I didn't use my 2 free nights it would be $79 for the third night. All I could say was what???? I was confused at first.  The women I spoke to told me that I could get either 2 free nights with the extra night being $237.00 Or I could just pay for the 3 days I needed to stay at $79.00 a night. I could not combine the free with the $79.00 a night. I said forget it. I shouldn't have to pay more then what the room is worth. That was crazy to me. What do you think?

 Well here's the story for the week, Oh heck a couple of weeks. First it's summertime and it's hot. I had a birthday this month it was quiet. The way I wanted it to be.  I have a car that has been sitting out in front of my house for over a month. It's from another state. So, I had to call the police for them to come and ticket it. So that after 7 days I can have it towed at the owner's expense. I say if it's not one thing it's another. The neighbor's child who is 14 is out for the summer. he is driving me crazy with the swearing , baseball playing and music blasting. They live next door and I am about to go over there and kill him. The boy who is 14 is so disrespectful to his parents and everybody else. If it was my child, I would have whipped that A** a long time ago.

I Can't Stand This !!!

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I can't stand living in New York because the property taxes are so darn high! I got my property  tax bill yesterday. Mind you I have to pay for 2 homes one I live in and one I am trying to sell. The price was over $16,000 for two properties for the year. And the crazy part is that I can't even get the whole thing back on my taxes. I can only claim $10,000 for the year. This is such a crock of..... Everything in New York has gone up water bills, Con Edison, food. It's too darn expensive to live here besides all the other problem we face here. I am sorry I am ranting I don't mean to but these bills are just to much at times

 The good thing is sometimes I do get a break. I got cat food for free at the grocery store  the other day. It's the good stuff to the $22.00 a bag kind. No I am not eating it it's for the stray cats that I feed in my backyard. I just need to hit the lottery for a couple of million then my bill worries would be over because I would be in Vegas!

To Close

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. don't get me wrong I like where I live. It's very diversified. The people are quite and friendly. But we live to close to each other. My neighbor next door has a small backyard like me. But you could not tell her that she had this big patio set with the fireplace and torch lamps. It's a hot mess. She thinks she lives on an estate somewhere.  It's a nice set up but not for where we live. The smell from her fire set up outside burns my eyes at times. I close my window and still smell it because she put a special scent. So, the fire smells funny. I tell you living close to people is not what it use to be.

This month was both my mother and father's birthday. Mines the later part of the month. Yes we were all born in June. Two Gemini and One Cancer.

Good Week

  Hello all well here's the story so far. Happy June the months are flying by so fast. This week has been a good week so far. I got $5 dollars in the mail for an incentive to take a survey about health. If I return the survey, I get $20 bucks. Which I filled it out yesterday and mailing it this week. I need my $20 bucks.  Also have you ever just woke up and felt good that you were singing and dancing. I felt that way yesterday I was happy that I was a live and everything else was not important. I wish I could wake up and feel that way all the time.

Today's my father's birthday he passed when I was 18. I miss him I wish I could buy him a coffee and we could sit and talk. Me being older I understand a lot more now than when I was 18. At 18 I was silly and foolish not realizing that people don't live forever. I missed out on some great moments because of my stupidity & selfishness.

Bills

  Hello all well here's the story so far. First how was your holiday weekend? Hope that you did something good. Well, here's the story. I received a doctor's bill in the amount of $9785.  First, I was going to get upset then I relaxed because I know this must be a mistake. I already paid $1000 toward that bill. I remember when I went to the doctor's office. They stated they would handle the bill since I had insurance (Thank God) I had just got a bill that the insurance company paid for that was $70,000. I only had to pay $300. This is why I say you must have insurance because a medical issue will wipe out all of your saving in a heartbeat. Anyway. I called the hospital, and they told me not to worry about it because my insurance company should handle it. I hate when they send me big bills like that. Because it's nothing scarier than getting a big hospital bill and not being able to cover it. I would have quickly told them to put me on a payment plan and I would be paying them $5 a month until they say the heck with this and forgave the bill. My weekend was quiet, nothing special but the nice weather.

It's Crazy

  Hello all well here's my story so far. New York City's DMV ( Dept Of Moto Vehicles) is crazy. Here's why I say that. I needed to get a title for my car. I went to the DMV that I use to go to. They moved to a different place. Now I had to search for the new place. When I got there, they had guards at the front door like you were trying to enter Fort Knox with the gold. I told the guard what I needed. They told me I had to make an appointment first online before I could enter the building. This is not the first time a place I tried to enter had a guard standing at the door blocking your entrance until you told them your whole life story.

Ok so I wasted gas and a trip to DMV. I made the appointment to get my car title. On the day that I went no guard at the door. You just walk right in and take care of your business. No one even asked me for my appointment letter. All I could say is Really?? I wasted gas. my time and got frustrated trying to make a DMV appointment. Now they are just letting anyone come in.  Is it just me that's has to go the extra mile to get things done?

It Cheaper

  Hello all well here's the story so far. I hate to cook, but the restaurants we use to go to are horrible now. Even the takeout fast food places food is not as good as it use to be. So now I am doing more cooking at home. I am not a big fan of cooking but I have no choice. Also, I have to watch my salt intake. So, it helps that I cook my own meals and it's cheaper. It's still raining on me. Now the new oven we just purchase has a problem that needs to be fixed. That stove is not even a month old and now it's giving us problems. They don't make stuff like they use to.

Also, if you bank with a commercial bank like I do. Make sure you always take your bank card. Because yesterday I wanted to cash a check and went into my bank. Forgot my bank card. They wanted my driver's license. I did not want to show them that there is a reason behind that. So basically, they told me that I could not cash the check if I did not have the bank card or show them my drivers license. I told them forget. I will go to another bank that I have an account with. I think it's time I take my money out of commercial banks and go back to my old saving banks. I like them better.

Let Me Tell You!

  When it rain it pours here's what's going in this week. First I get this letter from a lawyer in Ohio stating that I am being sued because I owe this company $15,589. For what! Apparently, I opened up a loan with this company back in 2022 and I never repaid the loan. News to me. The lawyer says that I owe this money. I told him this is identity thief and here's my police report to prove it.

Then my car breaks down which now it's sitting in the gas station waiting to be repaired. I am praying I can get through this week without anything else happening.  Pray for me.

Stuff

  Hello all well here's the story so far. Stuff and so much of it. My neighbor is moving and instead of him having a yard sale or just telling the neighborhood come get this stuff for free. What does he do? He calls a removal company, and they haul 3 trucks worth of good stuff away. The neighbor could have at least donated some of the furniture, a bike, office chair and other pieces to charity.  He just decided to throw in the garage. I don't know why but it made me mad to see all that good stuff.  Go to waste while people who might not be able to afford certain things could have used the stuff he threw away. Just a waste. Maybe it's just me but I hate to see good stuff go to waste.

My real estate agent called me today my 2nd home is not getting the traffic. That I should be getting.  So, we decided to lower the price by $5000. I was for it because I don't want to carry the house into 2024. It's costing me to much as is and with no tenant in the home. My expenses just for the second house is crazy. So, yea I want to sell it fast can you blame me.

Another Bites the Dust

  Hello all well here's the story for the week so far. When it rains it's expensive. I have a skylight on my back porch that started to leak. Like I don't have other money problems to worry about now. I called the roofer. He stated that he can get me a skylight.  Since my old skylight had holes in it that's why the leaks. Now this was on Monday. I can't imagine what that will cost me. Especially since I just got a brand-new stove delivered on Monday costing me $1300. Now get this the stove that I got is not even the top of the line it was the cheapest but with a good company G.E. I remember paying $500 for a stove back in the day and that was expensive.

Besides all of this money that seems to be slipping through my hands because of repairs. The bad part is that I don't seem to be making any money. The stock market is killing my retirement saving, interest rates on CDs are really sad. I am looking in to getting a part-time job. Just so I can put the money away for repairs. Am I wrong for doing that?

Expensive

  Hi there well here's the story for the week. It was expensive. First Monday I had to pay $140 to get my teeth cleaned. My insurance pays for 3 dentists visit and I have to pay for the fourth. Tuesday was a doctor's appointment. The doctor's office claimed that I owed them $9000 for services back from September of 2022. We talked about it and I just ended paying $70.00 for the visit plus a co pay of $140.00. I also had to get a new stove which cost me $1300 to install and take my old broke stove away. See I told you it was an expensive week this week.

But the good part is I at least had the money to pay for these things. That's why I always preach emergency funds because you never know what kind of emergency your going to have. Always put extra money aside just in case this happens to you.

Well, that's the story for the week I hope next week is a cheap week for me.

Balance

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I am back from vacation I went to Atlantic City to relax and gamble for a couple of days. I also went to visit family. I found out  that gambling is not what it's cracked up to be meaning that I lost my money ( LOL). Also is there really a thing called life balance. I am trying to still save money and enjoy my life at the same time. Is that possible?

I love going on vacations but at what price. This trip to Atlantic City showed me that even a few days away can cost you a couple hundred dollars for room, food, transportation and fun stuff. I said to myself is it worth it to spend that kind of money when I have medical bills that need my attention?

Vacation

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. It's Hot! Meaning the temp have been 80-90 degrees in New York. What happen to springtime? It's winter right into summer that's crazy. Still looking for a new stove. Most of the places that I have been to don't have the inventory right now. So, I am cooking food on top of the stove since the oven works but only on broil. Did I tell you about how expensive appliances are when did that happen? I remember I could get a stove for under $500. back in the day. Now I am lucky if I can get one under $1000.

I need a vacation. Last time I took one was about 3-4 years ago. I am going on a mini vacation soon to Atlantic City. I know it's not much but at this point just getting way and being by the water is good enough for me. It used to be cheap to stay in Atlantic City not anymore. Resort fees are $30 bucks plus taxes. They hold $150.00 on your credit card just in case you mess up their rooms. They don't have housekeeping too much. The hotel gives you a choice $20 in gambling credit or housekeeping. You choose. It's not like the old Atlantic City where you got free rooms, food and play money plus a show all for under $100 bucks.

Did I mention where I live it will cost about $100 in gas and tolls one way to get down to Atlantic City. Thank god I am visiting family as well when I go down.

New York Rips You Off

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. Stay away from New York!! They are getting crazy and I will tell you why. I needed to replace my old gas stove with a new one. I went to Lowe's and Best Buy looking for stoves. Lowe's is cheaper they are selling stoves for around $500 compared to the thousands that I saw in other stores. Anyway, the salesperson in Lowe's told me that with gas stoves in New York they can deliver them, but you need a permit to get it installed. Say what Now??? That's the new rule you need a permit to have a gas stove in New York city and if you live in the outer broughs.  The permit you need cost a couple hundred dollars. Then you need a plumber to hook up your gas stove which is another couple of hundred dollars and finally the delivery charges. So, my $500 gas stove is now over $1,000, That's crazy!

What happen to buying a stove and having the delivery people install it.  Them days are gone. New York City has a racket going. Where now I have to get a permit for a gas stove. Now if I wanted an electric stove, I could get it delivered, hooked up without all the extras that I have to do to get a gas stove.

Uncle Sam Darn You!!!

  Hello all well here's the story so far. Uncle Sam and the State got me. I did my taxes yesterday and the account told me that since I made less last year. I only get to pay $4,000. Compared to the $10,000 I paid the year before. Really Uncle Sam. You know a Sista trying to buy other bills with that money. I used to love doing my taxes because I knew I was getting a tax return. Not so much now.

I did learn a lesson from my accountant. I told him about my house that I was putting on the market for sale. He broke down for me the taxes I would pay on the sale of the house. I was shocked. It's a lot. I would come out with some money but not as much as I thought. I have to sell it anyway. I am not going to be a landlord again I don't like it. Beside the second house is costing me money. So, I have to get rid of it.

         Happy Spring, I am so glad it's getting warmer now I can get out more and do things.

Contestants

Hello all well here's the news for the week. I have finally nailed it down to two real estate contestants. I will be calling them this week and hopefully my house will be up for sale by the end of the month. I need to sell it need the money for medical and Retirment. I told you about that.

Also let me tell you how sneaky some real-estate agents are. A guy called me and told me that he was a real estate agent and wanted to see the house. I made an appointment with him. When he showed up, he had his partner with him. Which was a real estate agent I had previously interviewed and did not care for. I guess she wants that house and wanted to have her partner pretend it was a first-time interview for their company so that I would agree to see him. And if I liked him. I would give his company the listing for the house. Sneaky right.

Right now, the springtime is calling my name. Winter is over and it's time for the dreaded house improvement chores. The ones that cost big bucks. Like getting my house's foundation fixed. New windows. new garage door. Might need a new stove to. I hate to spend money. But things are needed. So, what can you do?

Interviews

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. I am doing interviews with real estate agents so that I can get my house back on the market. I told you what happen to the last Real Estate Agent that I had. Well Interviewing is not easy. The Real Estate agents that I have interviewed say the same old thing. I live in the neighborhood, I can get you cash buyers, my commission is worth the work I do, Sign right here etc. Some Real Estate agents do their homework like showing me the comps on houses in the area, and other stuff don't.

All I know is that I need a good Real Estate agent that is hungry to make a sell. I do have someone in mind, but I will keep you posted. Looking at my life it goes so fast and there were so many things that I wanted to do but was too afraid to do them. Like move to Las Vegas to gamble and live.  I wanted to go on a road trip in a RV for 3 months. Just to travel to states where the food is tasty, good and cheap. Life is so short if you have a dream do not wait do it!

Never

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. Never, I mean never get sick because it will cost you more than a mortgage payment sometimes.  I have some health issues that require me to go to specialists every 6 months to 1 year. Which if it wasn't for my insurance (Thank God) I would be broke and homeless already. I still pay out of pocket but it's not nearly as much as they ( New York Doctors) are charging for their services. For example, I got a statement yesterday from my medical insurance that my heart doctor is charging $2000 every 3 months to monitor the device that is planted in me for heart issues. That's crazy expensive. If I had to pay that out of pocket, I would be broke and on the verge of homeless in a month.

As of right now I am doing all I can to make money so that I can have a medical money cushion for the future. Again never get sick it's just too expensive.

On to other news I am in the process of interviewing Real estate agents so that I can sell my house. So far nothing.  It seems like they all have the same speech when they talk to you. I will keep you posted of what's or who I pick.

Fired

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I fired my real estate agent. She had my house for 6 months and only presented me with 1 offer. Which was too low. I gave her a chance and I think when I spoke to her, she had given up on selling the property anyway. So, we both agreed it was time to move on. Now I am in search of a new real estate agent to sell my home. But this time they only get 2 months to sell it not 6 months.

Con Edison is killing people with their price hikes. It's bad enough that they sneaked in increases to make up for the covid-19 losses they suffered. People were not paying their bills, so they attached them to the people that were paying. Saying that Con Edison did a recheck of the meters and some other kinda bulls**t like that. Which allowed them to charge you more for less service. They are such a rip-off!!

I am scared that getting old and not having enough money to live on is keeping me up at night.  With inflation and the high cost of living. No wonder I can't sleep.

Expensive Knish

  Hello, all happy day after Valentines Day. Well, here's the story so far. Can you say New York is Expensive well it is. I went out to lunch today at Bens which is a kosher Deli. Food use to be good there but. It's not anymore and for 2 overstuffed sandwiches and 2 potato knishes the bill was $55 dollars. That's half of my grocery money for the week. My partner told me with things so expensive eating out is a luxury like going on a cruise. He's right.

The worst part about eating out is not only the expense it's that the food they serve is not good anymore. I find it tasteless. What do you think? I love that we have been getting nice weather in New York. Yea no snow and springtime will be in a few weeks. Can I tell you I am not a fan of snow.  Since I have to shovel it.

I can't wait to sell my second home the bills like water, electricity, property tax keeps rising and we are making the payments but that is money we could use for other things. I learned a lesson no more 6 months contracts for my new real estate agent. If the new real estate agent cannot sell the house in 2 months, they are fired. My current real estate agent has 2 weeks left on her contract and I don't think she's even showing the house anymore. She knows her days are numbered.

Expensive Cats

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. My feral cats are costing me a fortune in dry cat food. It's been 2 years and don't ask why I started feeding them. Felt sorry for them, I guess. Anyway the 16.5 lbs. of dry cat food use to cost me about $15.00. Now it's $23.00. I had to ration the food for the cats. I have 3 sometimes 5 depending on who comes to eat.

I am so tired of carrying an empty house. I told you I have a second home that I rent but it's empty because of the covid scare. Did not want people living off of me for free. I can barely afford me. So, the energy bill came in yesterday for the second home. It was $70 more than the normal price I pay. The billing for just carrying the gas into your home is crazy. They charged me $120 just to carry gas through the pipelines and the usage was like $40 bucks.  If you would tell me Con Edison is not ripping people off. I would tell you you're lying. Because they are.

Sick Of It!!

Hello all well here's the story for the week. I am sick of death crossing my path. Death has kissed to many people for me this week alone. First my old co-worker passed and now my aunt has passed to.  I'm tired of death. It seems that when you get a certain age that's all you hear about is death, for once I like to hear Hey, we hit the lottery, hey would you like to go on a cruise for free, Hey Family guess who is getting married, having a baby. You get the idea good news only.

Also, I use to work for Macy's and when I heard it was going out of business. I thought I might as well get a jump on my pension. Because if Macy's goes under there goes the pension. So, I called Macy's benefits department, and they sent me a letter stating that I will not get a pension until 2027. It will be $87.50 a month. Which is held in an annuity.  So, with that I will not be counting on that money when I get 62 because it will not be there. You know $87.50 is nothing to sneeze at I could use that money in the future to pay a bill or buy food with. Now let's see if I get it in 2027!

Feel Good

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. Feeling good I am a person who loves my money but I realized that money doesn't make you feel good. So, what I decided to do is to reach out and visit friends and relatives I have not seen in a while. I visited my aunt yesterday and after the visit I felt good. Better than money made me feel.

Also, I had to call Verizon the phone company because they had wires hanging from my rental home but get this the wirers were connected to nothing. There is no phone, internet service in the home. So, they came out to remove the wirers free of charge of course.

This week has been quiet, and I like it like that.  That's my story what do you think?
