I Spent What!!!

Hello All well here's my story for the week. I did my books today. Which means every year I record how much I spent on things like groceries, my business, my gambling etc. I was shocked to realized that I have spend $987 on a chance to win at lotto but I have won $20. No comparison right. I think I am losing more then I am spending at a chance to win less.  I said to myself last year that I was going to stop spending so much or losing so much money on a chance to win. I didn't do it this year but come 2019 I am sticking to it. The reason being the things I could have purchased with that $987. 

 I could have purchased a mutual fun and gained money from the interest.

 I could have purchased a great rate bank CD account.

 I could have paid a bill with that money.

 I could have paid my car registration with that money.

 I could have used some of that money has a down payment on  cruise.

 I could have used that money or some of it for a charity I like.

 I could have used that money to  get some repair done  around the house that are needed.

 I could have put  that money in my medical saving account. 

 I could have used that money to add to some stocks I already own.

 I could have used that money to start a side hustle.

 So yes I am foolish to spend that kind of money on a chance but I say for 2019 No to lotto. Ok if the jackpot is big I will throw a dollar or two at it but only if. I am also shredding all my old papers for 2018 and there is a lot of them. I hate having a lot of papers collecting dust . So out they go and in with the new 2019 papers. So that's my story what do you think? 

Changing

Hello All, well here's the story for the week. It's time to change me for the better. I know I am looking sexy in this picture (LOL) but.... I have come to realize it's time for a change and a confession.  Hello My name is Hill late 50's  I am a  sweets junkie, diabetic, overweight women (248 lbs) who needs to change for 2019. I have been a sweets junkie all of my life that's why I am a diabetic now and if things don't change it will be the death of me. So I have to change my lifestyle. The way I eat and do rather don't do  things like walking and taking better care of myself and 2019 will be my start to a new life.  I can really say that I am to old to be a sweets junkie. It's time to stop or die. My choice. 

I am also continuing my $1 a day challenge but now it's $2 a day. I am also cutting out sweets from my diet among other things. Hoping to get my diabetes under control and money for my cruise to Hawaii in the near future.  So that  my confession to you and I will let you know how things are going. For the most part last night after I came back from the doctor I threw out every sweet thing I had in my house  except for the cake I made on Sunday. But everything else went. It's a start.

Darn New York!

 Hello all well here's the story so far

 I just got my increase in my property tax. I hate when that happens. I owe an extra $130 on property taxes that the city wants you  to pay by Jan1 2019. Like that's in 2 1/2 weeks. What of I didn't have the money. Then what? What would happen would they would put the extra increase on my regular property tax bill in June which would be about $5000 give or take. I keep saying this it's time to leave New York every time you turn around they are sending you a bill for this or that . My next bill would probably be a bill for New York  air.

The holiday are 2 weeks away and here's my holiday decoration. That's right a $6 dollar poinsettia and that's all she wrote. Why have the tree and decoration when there are no kids in the house only two adults who live a simple life. Plus the put up and clean up after the holidays are not a favorite of mine. As far as gift giving . We don't give gifts we give vacations which at our age is much better. Who needs  gifts anyway when they only become  dust collectors anyway?

Hello all I am back from my Cruise on NCL Gem and it was not pretty. Let me tell you my story . I went on a cruise for 12 days to the Caribbean. It was a great deal on a ship that I thought would be good because I sailed on it before NCL GEM out of New York. Anyway it sucked!
Here's why..

 The food was all beef and pork and cold all day long. That's all they served  most of the time. It was pure salt and tasteless. They offered different nights in the buffet like Asian night, Russian night , Caribbean night but all the food was bland. Their dining room was decorated nice but the food still sucked. I had the specialty dinning package  food you guessed sucked there to.

The entertainment I have seen better in high school plays and  on America's got talent. Plus  it was the same 2 years ago when I went so I passed on the shows.

The other entertainment like the lounge bands were not good either and they nicked and dimed you for everything from selling jewelry, art, game show cards, lotteries etc. [. The  staff was clueless and didn't care about anything most of them anyway. I had heard from a passage that about 50  people from the staff quit when we were in St Kitts. So the mangers had to take over. Now you know that's bad when your employees quit during a cruise.

Over all the trip was not so good But.....

The good parts were the people we met were so nice, some of the staff was friendly and the islands  that we went to were warm and beautiful.

I got some great perks from this ship like free specialty dinning, $300 on board credit, all my excursions was free.  So I can't complain but so much. They even had a coffee maker in my room thank good I had my own coffee with me. Their coffee  on the ship was nasty.

Would I go on that ship again no. Would I cruise with someone else yes. As long as I get a lot of bang for my buck.

Disappointed

 Hello all, well here's my story today. I am disappointed in Bj's. I went over to the store yesterday because I have a gift certificate and I wanted to know how long I had  before it expired . I went into the store that I had not been in for over a year. I used a  coupon for the free 3 month membership.  That helped me from paying for a membership that I would not be using. I think they charge $50 for the year. 

So I looked around while I was there the lines were pretty long I guess since Thanksgiving is around the corner people are starting to stock up. But you know what I found..... That I can get  my food items that I normally would buy in BJ's cheaper somewhere else.

Yes I was disappointed. I knew that Bj's would give me more bank for my buck but really it doesn't. It's about the same prices that I would spend in other places and the boxes on the items I use to buy   are much smaller then they use to be. So I figure that when I do decide to use my gift certificate I will only be buying the things I really need. Since most of the stuff I would normally buy there I can get cheaper elsewhere. Plus their bakery department is not as good looking as it use to be.  Oh BJ's you disappoint me so....

 Hello all, well here's the a story for the week. I am worried. why you might ask? Because I am getting older and the money part of my life along with the health part is worrying me. First let me talk to you about the money part. I depend on my partners income to live. I have not reached an age of retirement yet so my city pension has not kicked in. If my partner was not in the picture my income would go down quite a bit. So I am trying to find alternative ways to stay cheap and have money to live on without using all my saving. Got any suggestions???

The health part is about the same if my partner is no longer in the picture then I am covered for health insurance for 3 years and then..... I have to find a cheap health insurance company to pay for my medical and prescription drugs which I have a few. So right now I am looking in to all of this besides figuring out what we need to sell off in 2019. I know it's a lot right. So how are you doing today?

Change

Hello all, well here's the story for the week. I am not a fan of change. I like things the way they are. I believe "if it's not broke don't fix it". But change must be for one to grow. So here's what I am talking about. I have a personal finance advise. No I don't have money like that. I have a simple 401k plan from my last job. Which I had to take with me when I left my job.. I have been with this guy for a few years he is arrogant,  snobbish in some ways, tells you what your going to do with your money  while telling you the rules. He is cheap but smart. You either like him or dislike him when you meet him.  The bottom line if you look past his personality he makes you $$ and that's the good part about him. 

I got a  phone call from this women yesterday saying that she will be replacing him  come 2019. I said who are you and why are you replacing my finance guy. She told me he is retiring. Ok, I know the guy is like 80 he's not in good health but.... who are you lady to touch my $$ I don't know you.

Change I am not feeling it. 

The something happen when Capital On Investing  telling people that they are sending their investment accounts over to E trade because they are no longer doing investments. Who is E trade???  Where is my money with you going again???

New Bill

Hello all how is Everybody Today?  well here's the new bill trick that New York is doing. Well they have been pushing this for a while but here it is. As you can see from the picture there are two pipes that go into the homes in New York the Water line and Sewer line. Now if the water or the sewer line breaks then the city is saying that  they will not repair it.(  Mind you we are already paying for these lines in our bi monthly water bills). It's on you but they do have an insurance company that will come and fix it for a cost. The insurance will cost about $ 25 dollars a month that will cover both pipes if they break. If it's not one cost it's another when it comes to living in Expensive New York. 

With this insurance it will cost you nothing for the company to repair it without the insurance it could cost you anywhere from $5000 to $12000 to get the pipes dug up and repaired. You know I have to bite the bullet and get the insurance. The lesser of the two evils

Now on to my window problems. People just don't want to work. My window man has been stringing me along for months about getting my windows replaced. Hello Home Depot maybe they will get my windows done without the stringing.

Home repairs and bills suck!

My Challenges

Hello all well here's the story for the week. First don't you just love this picture it was so pretty I wanted to share it with you. Now on to my story. Keeping up with doctors appointment, dentist appointment, drugs. It's crazy. First I have so many medical appointment for various women things that I might as well stay in the hospital for a week just so I can do them all. Let's not talk about the drug plans. I am on Express-Scripts where it's mail in medication that has to be filled through mail order. That's a pain to keep up with. Sometimes I wish I could go back to being a kid  and let someone else deal with the things that we have to deal with being an adult.

Ok, since October is Monday I am not ready!!! Meaning I have so much to do because in November I am going on a cruise and October is the only chance I will get to start get everything ready for it. Did I mention that I need a window replaced in my house.  I called the window man and he said he could replace it., It's been a month, still waiting on my window to be replaced. Did I also mention that  it's hard to find reliable people to work with you anymore. Why is that?

This is why I am not ready life is going so fast it's hard to catch up sometimes let alone keep up. But I am not complaining to loud I am truly grateful for the things that god has blessed me with. Did I mention my neighbor hit my car now I have to fix a dent in my car and a flat tire. She hit me and never told me she did it. But I know it was her. $300 down the drain to get my car fixed. 

This is my life.

Scary

Hello all well here's my scary story for the week. I got my hospital bill in and it was something to scream about. I had surgery  Aug 1. I stayed in the hospital for about 6 hours. That's all the insurance would pay for. So the hospital bill comes in this week for the hospital stay , the anesthesiologist, the surgery room  the drugs everything that I used in the hospital. The bill came to ……..$20,879.50 if that don't make you scream I don't know what would.

Thank god I mean really thank god for insurance all I had to pay was $200. The insurance company only gave the hospital $12,000. for everything. Which is still a lot in my book. I can really see why people don't want to go to the doctors or afraid to get sick. It's to expensive.

If I had to pay that bill out of pocket I would be down at the hospital billing office telling them my sad financial story and see if they could put me on a payment plan of like $10-15 a month. You know it could take me a couple of years to pay it off and I hope that during that time I don't get sick again where I need more surgery.

This country has to do a better job with our health care system. Our  health care should be free for all that are citizens and add dental care and drugs that  we need to stay health to the list to .  Just like other countries have we need it to.

Cover It!!

Hello all well here's the story for the week. Thank god I covered my A** because if not I would have been in trouble. I had put a full payment down on a cruise back in July . For a 12 days cruise in November I paid about $4300 for 2 people, but we also included the cancellation insurance. I am thankful that we did. My partner was having leg problems and he went to see a doctor. We thought that he might need surgery which would have taken us out of the cruise picture for a while. I called the cruise company just in case to see what the refund situation would have been.

They told me that they would refund all but $1985.00 from my cruise bill. That money would have to come from the insurance company because I had  cancellation insurance. Which I paid a little bit extra for but was worth it. Because had I not had it I would be out a cruise and $1985.00 in cash that I could not afford. I was already on a tight budget with this cruise.

So no matter what it is  your doing or planning to do. Make sure you put the right things  in place just in case you have to cover you A** one day.

Hello Everyone, How are you today. I just wanted to share something with you. You know I like my yard sales and stuff and I really like see what's kind of yard sales and flea markets they have in other states. I find this guy the Bearded Picker who  goes to yard sales in places like Alabama. Texas and such. He's funny at times. I like him.

I love YouTube because it allows me to go to yard sales and flea markets all over the state without leaving my home. I even go to England and see some of their car boots which is like  our  flea markets over there.

Nothing else special is going on but I will keep you posted. Have a great week. So what do you think?

A.C. Bust

Hello All, Well here's the story back from Atlantic City. Some parts were a bust some pretty decent. . First I paid for my first night in Cesar's Hotel $75 dollars the rest of my stay which was 2 extra nights were complimentary. First off  I get to  my room did not have an ocean view as I requested. I had to go back down stairs and fight with them for a room with a view. Then I get to my new  room it was ok, nothing great. I did get my ocean view.  Then I checked my bed like always and  my bed sheets they had a stain  on them. Heck No!!! Hello  housekeeping come and get this nasty sheet off my bed.

Once housekeeping came then I tried to use the coffee maker it's broke. Once again Hello Housekeeping  bring me a new coffee maker. See how the vacations going so far?

Now on to the Hard Rock Casino it's a new one in Atlantic City. All I can say is that I hear them. The music was so loud in the place you could go deaf. They did have good waitress service but the drinks tasted liked flavored water without the liquor. The food was reasonable in price but cold and tasteless. They were not giving you any money away through their slot machines . So I left.

The only casino that showed me some love was Tropicana they gave me $75 in ShopRite gift cards. I won $250 bucks. They gave me a free magic show and I got $6 off my Hooters wings. I love the wings at hooters they are so good.

Overall I did get to the beach, the weather was nice and I visited family. A good vacation without some of the trouble spots to me. So what do you think?

P.S. I got $25 off my room charge so that was a good thing. Since we  complained  we had a right to  I think they just wanted us to shut-up so they paid us to. Works for me.

Atlantic City

Hello all How Are you today?

Well here's the story for the week. So far it's been a quite week for me which is a good thing. I am heading out to Atlantic City this weekend. With surgery and doctors  all this month. I needed a quick get away to the beach and Atlantic City is it for me. Ok, I confess I want to see the two new casinos the Hard Rock and  I forget the other one that opened up in Atlantic City recently. I want to see   what these new casinos look like inside.  Maybe they will be paying you a little something to. Wishful thinking right. At least I hope they have good and cheap restaurants. Because the rest of the casinos on the board walk are  taking your money not giving you  anything and their restaurants suck..

I remember a time way way way back when  I use to get about $50 in food vouchers and $100 worth of free play. Not anymore I am lucky if they give me free rooms. Which this time I have to pay for my stay Sunday night at a coat of $70 bucks. The rest of the week I am staying until Wednesday is complimentary. I know $70 bucks is a lot especially when I use to get that same night free. But I feel  sometimes you have to bite the bullet if you want to do something. Besides my mother lives down there so the trip is also to visit her for a couple of days.

Overall I just need a cheap getaway and for now Atlantic City is it. What do you think?

Worried

Hello all well here's the story for today. This week I got a letter from my medical insurance company asking me if  I  had a secondary insurance company. You see I had surgery 3 weeks ago and I guess the insurance company wants to know if they have to pay the whole hospital bill. The letter stated that I had 15 days to respond if I did not respond in 15 days then they would not pay my hospital bill. I mailed  my response that letter the same day I got it. I was not playing when it comes to someone paying my medical bills.  Mind you I  only stayed 6  hours in the hospital not overnight like I was suppose to. Plus I already gave them $200 toward the operation when I did my Pr-operation tests.

After I read that letter I got worried. what if the insurance company tries to tell me that I have to pay the whole hospital bill. I can't imagine what that will cost. You know people can and do go bankrupt without of control hospital bills. My partner says not to worry the insurance company will pay something. I least I hope so. If not I will be paying the hospital what I can afford which will be $5-10 a month. I am not working so they can't expect that much from me can they?

My Tenant

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. I am kinda sad because my Tenant which is very good and she has a good spirit. Which is rare in people told me that by October she might be moving. I hate the thought of going through the process of getting somebody new that I might or might not have problems with. This tenant and her family are so nice. I don't have any problems with them and she pays on time. She keeps the place neat and clean. Her and her  family are just nice people. She will be missed by me. I have had some crazy and bad tenants in the time that I became a landlord.  My first tenant I felt sorry for her and I let her rent from me. Big mistake. Her rent was always late, she called me all the time for the simplest stuff. Also one time my basement in the rental house got flooded. Me and my partner ran over there. We stayed in the basement cleaning up the water for 4 hours. The tenant did not help and I personally knew her. She had been living in the neighborhood  when I was living in the house.

The house when she left was a wreck It smelled of  piss and  incense . The refrigerator was black with mold inside and she broke my toilet among other things.  I had to pay a lot of money to have it  my house cleaned up  and repaired. Then  she skipped out on last months rent that she owed. I said never again. The tenants after that were always angry. They  never payed on time and demanded that I be there at their beck and call when something in the house broke. Needless to say It took me two years with them back and forth in court because of the security deposit. I was glad to get rid of them 

Now this last tenant again I will miss this family, I am hoping she stays another year. She's the only good tenant that I have and I need her and her family to stay. I know I sound  selfish but when you got something good you want to keep it. So what do you think?

Health Cost

Hello all, well here's the story for the week, I am talking about a personal situating  when it comes to health care. I was into the hospital this past week. I had to have surgery  for something. The hospital was suppose to keep me overnight, but they have a policy that they only keep you for 6 hours and then send you home. The reason for that is  the insurance companies will not pay for overnight stays in the hospital anymore unless it an emergency. Anyway being a cheapskate that I am  and proud of it to. When I was introduced to the doctors that would do my surgery . The first thing I asked them was do they take my insurance because I did not want any extra medical bills coming my way. Was I wrong to ask them that since they were about to open a sista up in the operating room?
                                                       
I also told the  nurses that took care of me don't give me any medication that is not covered under my insurance plan. Was I being to cheap with my health? I realized that if it's was not for my partner having good insurance I would be  screwed when it came to my medical expenses. That's why I wanted to tell you that you need  good medical insurance and extra money on the side for medications and co pays. I still have to pay co- pays when I go to the doctors but I am ok with that has long as the insurance company covers the rest. And if you have not notice  Heath Care is expensive

So no matter what insurance you have make sure you set some money aside extra for the unexpected medical cost that insurance companies don't pay for. So what do you think?

I Need Good Food!!!

Hello all well here's' the story for today. I need good food...… Please!

Where I live in Queens I have been to so many places and their food was horrible. Last night I wanted something good. So I  went  to Applebees. I ordered the 2 mains and two sides. I had the salmon and baby back ribs . My partner had the steak and ribs with  rice and potato. Can I tell you the meats were dry and the sides tasteless. I was so disappointed. But what really shocked me was that the bill was $50 bucks for what?? I could have stayed home cooked a steak and made a simple side for less money. Guess that will teach me to eat out again. 

Last month I went to Outback Steak House  I use to love this place but no more they failed me to. Their food tasted like it was frozen and they reheated it . I was disappointed and the bill came to about $100 for 4 people. I don't know maybe I need to get into the restaurant business and serve what these guys are serving to people tasteless, frozen food and charge a pretty penny for it. What do you think?

Hello all , how are you today. Well here's the story for the week. First let me tell you that I did not win the  Mega Million for $500 million. You know I am upset about anyway. Last weeks I was out yard sailing and  got two  Apple  iPods cheap $10 for 3 of them..   The guy was nice enough and found one charger that fit all three iPods. Well we I got home  two turned on and one didn't. So I took  all three  to the Apple store to see if they could fix  one and show me how to work the other two. Here's the kicker part...

First the worker in  the apple store  told me my iPods were dinosaurs they came out in 2012 and they can not be fixed if they break . I was ok with that as long as they were working  and I can put music  on them I am good. So the nice apple employee showed me how to use the working ones and he tossed the non working one but get this...….

While the salesman was helping me a brat and her mother came in to the store and over to the worker and asked if he could fix their $700 apple phone that did not work. While the sales person was explain to the mother what the problem was her brat for a kid kept yelling at  the mother  calling her all kinds of not nice names and how  she wanted a new phone and so on. But the one the mother had in her  was brand new. After the brat stopped fussing the mother turns to her and tells her if she doesn't stop acting up she will be getting a flip phone. Really? 

 I remember as a child if we acted up in a store we got it good right there in the store. What's wrong with kids now a days.

They Got Me!

 Hello All well here's the story so far. First Monday morning I get a call from the Chase  Fraud unit. They call to tell me that someone  tried to charge somethings on my debit card. They wanted to know if it was me. I told them no the last time I used my debit card was 3 months ago if that. The person that falsely used my card tried to charge get this a Jack in the box meal and they tried to buy some shoes for about 60 bucks. These charges were in California and I am in New York. Thank god I have fraud alert on my cards. But normally when the bills come in I check them anyway just to make sure.

Now on to the next thing I forgot and left my car doors unlocked on Monday when I came back from going out. I stayed home Tuesday but Wednesday night something told me to check my car.  Sure enough someone had been in my card and took the money out of my cup holder. I had about $25 in lose coins and dollar bills for tolls and parking meters. Mind you the car was in my driveway. I am just thankful that the person didn't smash my windows to get into my car. They can have the $25 but if they had damaged my car it would have been more money to fixed then the $25.

This week  has been a week of trying  to and taking my $$. Hopeful the rest of the week will be someone giving me money or me winning some $$. That's my story what do you think?

I Am Tired

 Hello all  here's the story for the week, I am tried of getting ripped off.  The story goes like this guess who showed  this week to do the yard? Yep my gardener he does the yard and then presents me with a bill for $130 bucks. Mind you he missed 2 weeks for the month of June and in my mind my bill should be $40 bucks.  ( $20 a week  for his services)But he goes on to tell me that he charged me $50 dollars for the seeding of the grass and $40 for the trimming of the tree and  $40 for the mowing . I was mad and asked him what did he do  again?  After I paid him I asked my partner  if he trimmed  all the backyard trees.  My partner told me he only did one. On top of that my partner had to stay outside with the gardeners to get him to do the things that he was suppose to do in the yard without me telling him. Every time I talk to the gardener it's always a new price that's more then what I had budgeted for. He's a rip off and this is my last month with him.

Also I went to the doctors yesterday and my co pay is now $50 bucks instead of the $30. Needless to say he charges me for every test done. He tells me that he will not get paid by the insurance company if  I don't get my eyes checked once a year because I am a diabetic. Let's not talk about how medications keep going up on me. I am worried that the money I have saved will not last as long with all my medical problems. I have to rethink about getting a part-time job just so that I can have money for medical expenses.  Well that's my story what do you think? 

Summer Got Me Hot!!!

                                                       Hello All How Are You Today?

Well here's my story I am Hot literally Hot!!! My main air conditioner went out last week when it was 98 degrees and the humidity in New York made it feel like 102. It was hot. My main air conditioner that cools my downstairs was on it's last leg anyway but I pushed it and the air conditioner  said F**K you on the hottest day of the year I am out! So I got my fans and used them and then I ran over to P.C. Richards an electronic store to buy a new. Here's what happened. I got the air conditioner I wanted. The sales man tells me since I have a casement window I need a guy to come in and look at  my windows.  They will charge me  $25 for his services. Once the guy comes in to look at my window where the air conditioner  will be then they can deliver the air  conditioner. But get this they can not tell me how much the air conditioner will be because of the kind of windows I have . Huh????

 Now if I had regular standard windows the air conditioner would be $489. But since I have special  windows  the price is up in the air. Is that crazy or what? I said forget it and talked to my window guy. He's making me a new window and getting me an air conditioner for the window cheaper then the  $489 plus the extra $25 I would have spent.

My gardener is MIA again . I have not seen him in two weeks. Which means if I have to do my lawn this week. He's fired. What do I need a lawn guy for if he doesn't show up regularly and when he does  show up he wants a check.

                   Hey all just wanted to share this guys great travel video. I could travel with him anytime. He goes to some cool places on the cheap. I will admit some of the places that he travels to I would pass but some like Greece and Italy and such I am there.

 Hello All. Well here's the story for the week. My darn refrigerator  hand broke off and the  refrigerator is only about 5 years old if that. I was so mad over the weekend they make crap things now. I replaced a refrigerator that was 20 years old  with this piece of crap it was going but the handle never broke like this one. Now I have to find a guy to fix it. More money spend that should not have been because of cheaply made products. I hate that.

I had sent my mother some flowers and a fruit basket from 1800 flowers last week. She got both before her birthday. I had spoke to her later on and she told me that the flowers I send had fallen  apart in 2 days. I called 1800 and explained to them what happen. I had lost the receipt and was not sure about what flowers I had sent her.  They were nice about it and looked me up, apologized for the flowers. They  gave me a $20 credit toward my next order. Plus they are sending my mother some new flowers. Which was a nice thing to do . Since I had paid a pretty penny for the order.

My $1 a day challenge, yes I am still doing it. Told you I am going to Hawaii next year and I need spending $$. Well I barely made my $$ for June. But thank god I had a mystery shop that paid me $30 bucks plus I rolled some coins which came out to $37.50 which $25 of that is going to my coin  stock  challenge. So I have $12.50 toward my dollar challenge, Nice right! 

                                        Well that's my story so what do you think?
