So Ready for 2023

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. I am so ready for 2023 to start and here's why. Besides all the medical issues that I had to deal with. I also had to purchase a new car mine was 30 years old and it was time for my old car to go. I am trying to sell off a lot of stuff that I have accumulated over the years and things are selling slower than I expected. Especially since this is the holiday season. It's just too much has happened in 2022 starting with canceled trips, not visiting people like I wanted because of covid and other medical issues. I am ready for a new start and that's with 2023.

I had a few good things happen I thought I would have to pay $70,000 for a hospital overnight stay, When I called the insurance company, they told me don't worry about the bill. The hospital and insurance company will work it out. I was glad because if I had to pay a $70,000 bill they would get $50 a month from me until it was paid off.   I never took health insurance to seriously but now I see what all the fuss is over you need health insurance because you never know when you're going to get sick like me.

Happy Sunday

  Hello all it's been a while. Here's the story so far. Is it me or is December the month of bills. Besides the regular bills, energy, water, car payment, In December   you have the increase in property taxes, all the housing contracts come in for the year's renewal for maintenace on the house besides other bills that you did not count on. That's my problem right now I have spent more in bills in December then I have all year. Crazy right?  

Also, I am dealing with having medical issues that cause me to not run and do the things I use to do. I have to move slowly and take it easy.  But overall I am grateful for the challenges I face and getting over them. The holidays this year will be a quite one for me. I visited my mother for Thanksgiving, and I was happy about that. Now I am just focusing on 2023 getting healthy and financially ready for what 2023 will bring us.

 Happy Thanksgiving. Ok so I am a little late. How are you family? Well here's the story for the thanksgiving Holiday. Stay Away Stay Away from Caesars in Atlantic City they have so many problems it's not funny. I stayed there for 3 days over the holiday week and here's what happened.

First, they put us in a room all the way in the back of the building by a fire exit. We needed to be closer to the elevator. We told them that. The neighbors next door to us were too loud and smoking weed. I could smell it through the walls. Had to change rooms. The hotel did not have a problem with us changing room the second room had blood on the top sheet. Had to call housekeeping waited hours just to get clean sheets.

Second there is no place to grab a quick bite. It's all overpriced restaurants like Dave Ramseys and the small place that sell salads, ice cream, sandwiches and pizza cost you $8 dollars for a slice of pizza. Thank God we purchased food before we got to the hotel to eat for dinner later.

Third The homeless has taken over Atlantic city. You saw security from the hotels running around chasing them out. You feel for them. It's hard to gamble and enjoy yourself when you see people in need of the basic comforts in life.

Lastly The food down there was horrible fried, dried and tasteless.  everything we ate down in Atlantic City was to greasy, tasteless or just no taste to it. I could not wait to get to my mother's house to eat some decent food.

Overall, we needed the vacation, but Atlantic City was not it use to be a nice place to visit. Not so much anymore. So how was your turkey week?

Life To Short

 

 Hello all, well here's the story for the week.  Life is too short to wait for things to happen to you. You have to make them happen. I am sorry to say that I was not the main winner in the power ball billion-dollar jackpot but really what would you do with 2 billion dollars. To me that's scary money. Meaning you are not a regular unknown person anymore. Everybody knows you and they want a piece of you for the money. That kind of scary money you can keep.

Since me and my partner have been having medical issues and we have not had a vacation in about 4 years we decided that we needed one bad. So, for Thanksgiving I have reservations for Caesar's in Atlantic city and then I will visit family down there for Thanksgiving. For the summer of 2023 We are going to Canada and Maine on a cruise. I miss cruising being on the water is very relaxing to me. The cruise was a good deal buy one get one free well sort of. The cruise company divides the amount of one person's ticket into 2. So, for example the trip for 7 days for one person on this cruise is $3000. But we are paying 1500 a piece instead of the $6000 for 2. Yes, it is expensive, but we up graded to a better cabin then we would normally stay in for this cruise and life is short and you have to enjoy the time that you are here.

Besides I have 9 months to save and look for other discounts on this cruise. Well, that's my story so far life is too short, and you never know what life will throw at you so enjoy it while you can. I know I am.

Senior

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. Yes, I have to admit that I am a senior now. It came so fast. I am looking for programs and free services that I can get from either my local community or the government. Most of the programs I looked into I don't qualify for. But I am still looking because anything that can save me time, I enjoy or money it's a win for me.

I told you I am still trying to sell my rental home. I need the money for medical expenses just in case. It's still on the market with no buyers not even an offer. But yet I have suggestions like could you make this home 2 feet more?. No! Could you have a door going into the basement? No! Could you lower the price so that it's cheap? No! I still have faith that it will sell. Look I am trying if not I know selling a house is not easy. This being my first time I know it's a waiting game.

Money Worries

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. Can you say I need to tighten my money belt even tighter. Here's why. First with my oil contact I called and it's now costing me $5.49 per gallon to fill my oil tank for the winter. Which should come to about $600-$700 every 3 months. I used to pay $3.59 a gallon still expensive but those extra 2 dollars will make a big dent in my budget this year.

Now here's the part where I just want to cry. My medical insurance denied my claim for a medical procedure. That I had no control over it was the doctors' orders. I will not mention how much that bill will be if I have to pay it but it's a whole lot. A few thousand dollars this bill will put me on the hospital's payment plan for sure. 

Thank god that was all the bills for this week but still makes a woman like me want to cry. I hate owing people money.

3 Weeks

 Hello all it's been a minute so here's my story for the week. I told you that I am trying to downsize most of my stuff. Selling off anything that I can make money on. Reason medical expenses. Need I say more?  Anyway, since I have a rental home that has been sitting for a while empty, I thought I might as well sell it. It's been listed for 3 weeks now, and the feedback is crazy. Some people want the price of the house lower than the listing price. Not happening. Some feel that they need access to the backyard. Problem is the house is landlocked. Which means you have to go through the house to get to the backyard.

The house is in a great neighborhood, close to everything, good school district and you have easy access to highways. I feel the real estate women who is dealing with it is trying. But if she cannot sell it. I will be giving it to someone who can. I have had that house since childhood. Which is pretty long and it's time to move on. Have you sold a home recently how was your experience.

I Am Back!

  Hello all I am back and do I have stories to tell you. First, it's not fun getting sick. I discovered that I had a heart problem that I let get serious. I had to stay in the hospital for a few days. That was not fun at all but thank god I had insurance to cover it. I did lose 45lbs because of it and I am eating in a very different way now. It's call Heart Healthy with no sodium and not too much water.

Overall, I am feeling better than what I have been in a while. Getting on to other things. I told you that I am trying to sell my rental home. It's been on the market for 3 weeks and it's kind of slow with traffic. But I can wait the main goal is to get it sold. 

I am looking at my life differently now. I am getting rid, selling or throwing stuff away to make room for more money just in case I might need it for medical reasons.

That's the story so far but there is a lot to tell you so stay tune

Tired

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. I am tired I had so many appointments this week back-to-back it was making me crazy. I am dealing with medical issues which means doctors appt and test being done. Housing issues which means getting workmen to do the work and repairs. While it not costing me a lot. I am dealing with downsizing which means sell it or trash it. It's so much stuff and let's not forget the stuff that pops up that you have to deal with out of the blue. It's crazy.

I got a notice from our local energy company that they want to install free gas detectors in our home. Good but you must make an appointment and it takes about 1-2 hours. Who has 1 to 2 hours for Con Edison, but get this if you don't do it, they fine you $500. Crazy right!

Can I get a vacation which at this point I have no time for. I have a cruise planned for Christmas/New Year's but I will cancel that shortly to scared to cruise with Covid and all these other diseases floating around. Also, the cruise ships are being so lacked about vaccination. I think I will pass this year.

I Did It!!

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I did it I spent over $10 playing mega million for a chance to win 1.10 billion dollars. Oh, come on you know you would have thrown some money in that pot to. Just for a chance to get close to that kind of money. Well anyway I realize that if I spend in moderation on my lotto addiction, I can still make retirement good. I am working on that right now. I have 2 years to go before I officially retire, and I am trying to save and make as much money as I can. Can I tell you that medical is expensive everytime I have to go to the doctors that a $200 charge just to breath the same air he does? And let's not talk medication that another money nightmare. That I have to deal with.

I have worked on doing a budget but it's hard when I am a cheapskate and try to spend as little as possible already. So, I told you that I am preparing my childhood home to sell. It's time. I am not renting it and the expenses that I pay is crazy. I need all the extra for my retirement. So, I will be calling real estate agents again to see who can sell the house and hopefully they will be flaky like the last 2.

I got my car payment loan in the mail I am paying over $450 a month for a car that was used. My last car was 1997 and I paid $10,000 no car loan nothing cash and carry. Did I mention I do not like loans of any kind especially if interest is tied to it. My plan is to pay the loan off as quick as possible and be done with it. But can I tell you I like my new used car. Drives nice and has all the bells and whistles my old 1997 ford escort did not. Hey, I had the car for over 30 years I would have kept her, but the car was costing more in repair then what she was worth.

It's Killing Me

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. It's killing me the heat that is. I live in NY and it's in the 90's feeling like 100. The air quality they say is good. But I can't breathe especially since I still wear a mask. Every wear a mask in the heat? it's not fun at all. Because of the heat it's hard to do the things that I want to do.  But I can't complain to much at least Iam not in Texas where for the past 2 weeks that have had over 100 degrees everyday with the high being 114. Now that's hot!

Let me share a crazy story with you. I interviewed another real estate agent so that I can sell my house. The first one was not a match. Anyway, this one is just a crazy as the first one. She called me 20 times in the course of 2 days. I told her I would call her. But she insisted on calling even on Sunday after 10p.m. I don't know if these real estate agents are hungry for a sell or what? When I did speak to her, I told her I would call her when the house is ready. It needs some minor touches which I have a handyman that say he can do it. For about $350 if I buy the material. I would do it myself but me and my partners heath conditions do not allow us to do the things we use to do anymore. 

Anyway, between trying to sell the house and getting our heath back in order. That's my story this week.

Super Saver is Here!!!

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. First hope everybody had a happy & safe 4th of July. Mine was quiet my neighborhood had small fireworks show which I could see from my backyard. So that was pretty nice no crowds, parking nightmares and crazy people to deal with just to see fireworks. I had my lawn chair a cold drink and nice show.

I have to be a super saver now and here's why first the stock market is killing me. I lost so much money because the market is down. I want to cry for real. The money I lost I could have lived on for a year or two if I was careful. I am hopeful that it will bounce back. Also, I have car payments now in the tune of $485. a month. For a used but great Hyundai Elantra with $12,000 miles on it car that I just purchased. I told you about that. I have never had a car payment in my life. My first car I paid $10,000 for it about 30 years ago and that was cash. That's the one i traded it for this new on with all the bells and whistles.

The price of food and everything is so expensive now. Me not getting any younger and going back to work is not an option for me because of health issues that I have. So now I am trying to make every penny count and picking up pennies when I see them because losing money, I am not a fan of.

A Few Things

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I realize that getting old sucks. But I am glad that I have a chance to get old. Had a birthday this week. Let's just say I am over 55 and leave it at that. I spent some time at a casino which I like to gamble and came back a winner of $16. Nothing to special for the week but I did realize that I have lost my desire to be money hungry like I use to be. Now's it's about family and friends and spending time with them. Even if I speak to them over the phone, it still counts to me.

Still trying to sell my house but it would help if I listed it with s real estate agent first. Also remember that real estate agent I interviewed a couple of weeks ago. Well, this lady is calling and e mailing me like we are long lost best friends. Saying that's she's worried about me and that she cares then she goes on to rant about her cats. I knew she was a bit dizzy when I interviewed her, but this is crazy.

Trying to sell off all my inventory from doing flea markets and collecting (vintage  Barbie dolls & G.I. Joes) over the years. That's a slow process because nobody is really buying with inflation going crazy. I can't blame them. I am also trying to hold on to my cash as much as possible. You never know when you might need it.

Reality Check

 Hello all well here's the story for the week first the good news I got to spend time with my mother. Since the last time I saw her was last year. I was determined to spend time with her for her birthday which I did. I realize that life is too short, and time is fleeting. So, I try and use my time wisely by seeing the people I care about as often as possible.

Now a Reality check money wise. I was on a spending spree. Well short of when it came to buying food and other things that I needed I was not looking at the prices like I should have but then BOOM!! Two things came in one my property taxes which are about $9,000 for one house and $5,000 for another one that we have and the bill for the new car I just purchased which will be $470 a month. Talk about bills hitting you all at one. Now I am pay attention to my money. Because homelessness is not an option for me.

You would think that I have a couple dollars since I did not go on vacation for 3 years. Oh well I am pay attention, and you should to.

Used Car Are How Much??

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I got a new used car if you want to call it that. For Memorial Day weekend I went looking for a car because my old car a 1984 ford escort was starting to show her age. She was costing to much in repairs. Her gas milage was good and milage on the car was about 35. I would have kept her but she was getting to old and showing it.  She had dents and bruises in a lot of places.  So I ended up with a 2020 Hyundai Elantra which looks like a big car but drives like a small one. I love her but the price not so much. After all the bells and some of the whistles she cost me $27,000. Which is way to much for a used car with 13 thousand miles on it. But get this I wanted to pay cash but the dealer said with the incentives of $2500 off the car I had to get a loan. I hate loans of any kind. So I ended up with a loan but the good part is that  they took my old car and gave me $500 for it. Which was better then me trying to sell it on my own. The car loan payment will be about $470 a month which now I have to find a way to make that money. Did I mention I hate loans.

Other then that the week has been buzy running arounds doing a community yard sales so that I can make money toward my car loan of course. Which you know I did not make. I was lucky if I made $20 bucks but to me every penny counts.

What Privilege?

Hello all well here's the story for the week. I got my American Express bill yesterday and I owe $160 this is the fee for having the card. I called up and told them that I wanted to use my points toward the bill. I also asked them what some of the fees on the other cards are the customer service rep told me that theirs a $250, 375 and 650 card fees with certain cards. So, I ask you what you are getting with American Express to pay such high fees just for the privilege of using the card. Which is crazy. 

Since I don't use the card hardly, I am looking into their no fee card. After I use up all the points that I have with them. To me having an American Express card is not worth the $160 a year in fess that I have to pay because I don't really use it and I am a cheapskate.

Trying to hire a good real estate agent is frustrating. I interviewed a real estate agent yesterday. I am thinking about selling my rental home. Don't want to carry the bills on it for 2023. Anyway, this real estate agent came in and looked at the house. Then she started talking crazy about what I needed to do to sell it. I was ok with that then the crazy part comes. She gets a call from her vet and after the call she starts talking about her cat and the problems that the cat has going to the bathroom. Really miss your here to tell me about  my house not your cat and it's problems. It's get crazier from there. Needless to say I will not be using her. Not the right fit.

Spending More to Save

 

Hello All well here's the story for the week I spent more to save money. Let me explain I have Verizon FiOS which covers my internet and landline. Yes, I still have a landline. Call me old fashion. Anywho when I first got the internet telephone package, I was paying $89 that was about 5 years ago. When I looked at my Verizon bill today, I am now paying $139 for the internet/telephone package. What happen to my $89 dollar deal. So I called and they told me that since it's been a while that a someone would have to come check my lines and it would be $222. Then I can go back on the $89.00 plan. By me being on the $89 dollar plan it saves me $50 bucks a month.

But if you think about it, I am paying $200 to save $600 for the year which is actually a saving to me of $300. So I paid the upfront money of $222 to save $300 was I wrong? 

                                                                    

Went car shopping again and what do you know they had a nice Toyota corolla a used one with  25,000. miles in black. It drives nice I wanted it the price $25,000. and they would not trade in my old car for  the used one. They told me to sell it myself.  At first  the salesperson was  nice and friendly. Then the sales person turned nasty when I did not want to buy a car at that moment. I told him I would think about it. That's when the ugliness in him came out. Talking about I wasted his time. That's your job to sell cars right. Not  all people who come through the door will buy. Don't like your job get a new one.

Keeping On Top

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. Where did my money go?  I have a few stocks that I have purchased a couple of years ago. I always keep track of this money when the statements come out. I saw in one statement that I did not have any money in one of the stocks that I owned. It showed a zero balance. Funny because last year I had a balance that was not zero. So I called the company to find out where the heck my money went. I need every penny I can get right now. With  my bill being higher then  last year every  penny counts.

Thank goodness I solved that where's my money problem. Now on to can I sell my house problem. I went on  one of my facebook groups to ask about good real estate agents and I got a ton of replies . I guess the real estate business is  very competitive because a lot of real estate agents reached out to me about my house. I have a few names that I will be calling soon. It's cost me about $10,000 a year for a house that just sits empty. It's not benefiting me anymore time to sell.

Really??

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. The word today is Saving! Yes I am looking over my bills and seeing who I can call to cut back our cut out their services. I really am starting to realize living in New York is expensive. I am seen so many video's where people are  getting evicted and becoming homeless because they do not have the money to pay rent. So that scares me a lot . I think if I lost my partner's income I am screwed. With my pension and social security I will just be getting by I think If I cut back on my bills. So  I looked over our Verizon  bill today we are paying $135 a month for landline and internet service. To much so I called and they have a cheaper plan for $89. I still get everything  but at $50 dollars less. There is a catch the telephone tech has to come in a check the phone lines and it will cost a one time payment of $222. Which is crazy. I know These companies get you coming and going.   

I was taking things for granted not anymore I am getting older and I need to start waking the F-Up and pay attention to my money.

We are down to one car now my old Besty is on it's last leg and I can not drive her but so far. So the car that I am using now  the lights keeps going out on the dash board making it impossible at time to see what gear I am in. It will be going to the mechanic today but I need a car. I can not let the only car we have for now break down.

Fear

  Hello all well here's the story for the week Fear!! Have you gotten to a certain age Like me and thought that your money will not last. Well I am at that point right now. I have done a budget and I see I have more bills then I do money if I was to lose my partners income. Right now I am trying to cut back and think of ways that I can reduce my bills and increase my income. But really a person of my age who has been working for 40 years It's hard to go back to work now since I have been home retired for 7 years.

My Van situation I told you about  it. I gave  my van to fix to my mechanic  3 weeks ago. Every time I drive by the gas station it's sitting in the same place it has been for the last 3 weeks. I am not worried I am dumping it as soon as I get a chance. That will be money I save on insuring something I have not used in years.

     So far May has been quite which is a good thing for me. Happy Mothers Day.

To Much

  Hello all Well here's the story for the week. I can't anymore. It's just too much stuff going on. I told you about my hospital situation. Where I am going back and forth to the hospital because my partner had surgery and that led to other things. He had to stay in the hospital for 7 days which was crazy. Hospital stays are not what they use to be. It's worst.

Now I find out that my old 30-year-old car that I loved so much is on it's last legs. I am scared to drive her to far for fear she will break down on me. She added more noises then normal when I drive her. So I have to park her in the garage until I get a new one. Which with the ways cars are going  Used cars are as much as new cars these days.

Since the stock market is up and down and I am losing money. I have the fear of  not having enough money for my old age. I don't want to be homeless and with out proper medical attention and medication. Yes I have my worries will I have enough money to live on.  I need to lose weight in order to control some of my illness. You know the usual stuff.

Hospitals

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. Going to the hospital is a nightmare now. I will tell you why. First if you have to go to the emergency room in my hospital, they have valet parking. Ok I am fine with that, but I prefer to park my own car, Anyway I had to go to the emergency room for my partner. We stayed for a long period of time. When I went to get my car the valet had left for the evening. So I had to search for 45 minutes because I did not know where he parked my car. I was already stresses and tired because I had been in the hospital for over 12 hours. That's another story. So looking for my car was just the icing on my cake that day.  

Am I the only one when I go into the hospital all I see is dollar signs for everything in that hospital. Even for the air we breath. Our health care in this country sucks. I think we need to have universal  healthcare where the government picks up the tab for being sick. Heck we pay enough taxes. What do you think?

The good part about the week is that my old van is being repaired for free under warranty. As I told you before I just want to junk my old van nobody is going to pay for a van that breaks down all the time.

D**N Uncle Sam

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. You ever feel like punching out your Uncle Sam. This week I needed to.  Why because I did my incomes Tax and let's just say that Uncle Sam needs his butt kicked for what he wants me to pay him back. I mean D**n Uncle Sam you know a Sista retired without a pension check. Plus, inflation is eating at her saving you think I could get a break?

I am paying a lot this year only because my accountant said I made money last year. Not if Uncle Sam is taking it back I didn't. Anyway, did you do your taxes? How did you make out?

Still trying to get to Lowes the hardware store for oops paints so that I can finish my rental home and sell it. You ever have that thing were your minds wants you to do something, but other things come up first. That seems to be happened with my rental home and repairing it for sale. Other things always get in the way of me working on it. 

Good news my heart doctor says that my heart rate has improved but I am to fat so I need to walk about 2 miles in good & bad  weather. He says it will help me lose the weight and my bones will get stronger. That's my goal for April 1th which is Friday. Walking to be healthy.

Retirement

  Hello all, Well here's the story of the week. I got my social security retirement letter. Yes, I am getting older and almost ready for my social security check. Well, I got this letter telling me about what the amount of my social security check will be will when I turn 62, 67 and so on.  I will say it was an eye-opening experience. But I am glad that I got it. So that way I can do my retirement budget to see what my expenses are going to be against what my income should be. That's important to know where your money is coming from in retirement because you never know what will happen in retirement.

I see the difference between getting my social security check at 62 and 67.  Now I am trying to make the difference of the two by saving money, selling stuff and being creative with my finances.  Got any ideas? So how are you planning your Retirment when it comes to money?

So Expensive

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I had to get a new cellphone because the one that I have has is a 3G which will be considered old soon. I needed a cellphone that was 4G or 5G. Which you know when you upgrade it's more money right? Well, I did get a 4G phone that cost me about $299.  The 5G ones were over $500 and up no thank you. But since  I have   consumer cellular they offered me a $75 discount which made the phone $$224. Which is still way to expensive for a phone. I like free or damn near free  when I have to purchase items that I hardly use. But I took the deal because I need GPS  for my car and you need a 4G or better phone to get it.

Found out this week that my uncle passed away in his sleep over the weekend. I was sad about that it was my mother's baby brother. They were not as close as they should have been but he was family. And when you lose anybody family or not it still a sad thing. Rest in peace Uncle Danny.

 Hello all well here's this week's story. First the roofer came back to check the roof for the 2nd time on my rental place. He found nothing. Which is a good thing, I think. So where did the water come from that was in my dining room?  While the roofer was there, he asked if I wanted to rent the place to him and his co- workers. they were willing to pay the rent and the water bills. I told him let me think about it. I really do not want to deal with tenants again. I just want to sell the place and move on. Too much hassle being a landlord.

Thank you Home Depot I love when you have oops paint on sale. I found 3 cans of a nice color oops paint the good stuff on sale for $9 use to be $5 a can. The original cost of the paint was $45 a can. You know I was not buying no can of paint for $45 dollars that's crazy to me.  I got 3 cans of oops paint for $27 less than the cost of 1 can of paint. Anybody know why paint is so expensive?

Now all I have to do is some minor repairs on my rental and put that bad boy on the market for sell. I have had that home for over 30 years it's time to move on.

D**N Roof

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I went by my rental home which has a flat roof, I saw water was coming down the wall in my dining room. I called my roofer since I had a brand-new roof put on withing the last 3 years. The guy came said it was not a roofing problem and that the snow got into my vent on the roof and melted that's where my water in the dining room was coming from. So, I told him to fix the problem. He told me he would tell his boss so that he could tell me the cost. I am still waiting for that boss to call me, and this happened on Monday It's now Friday.

I cannot wait to sell my rental home it's not worth it for me to keep anymore. It's costing me more money than I am getting which is nothing at the moment because I am not renting it.  I am afraid to re-rent it because my last 3 tenant were a pain in the butt.  Also I am afraid with covid -19 that the cdc maybe passing out more rent moratoriums again. Beside the house just for it to sit there empty is costing me about $8,000 a year. Which I cannot afford. That's not even including repairs I have to make if something goes wrong like the water coming into the dining room.

This is my life right now so what do you think?

Worries

Hello all well here's the story so far for the week. I know I told you about Con Edison and the higher prices it's costing people to heat their homes. It's like 10-40% more now. Also did I mention that I have to pay commission to just walk into a grocery store. Gas in New York is almost $5 a gallon.  Rents and property taxes are crazy. everything is so darn high. But you already know that. If your retired like me, you need some money coming in from somewhere that will help you beat inflation.  For me I am watching all my pennies because I have worries. I am not collecting a pension from my job yet. I am too young to get my social security. So, when I left my job a couple of years ago I did it because my partner had my back, and I had a couple dollars saved up.

I still worry about the what if situations in life. Especially when it comes to paying the bills. Did I mention medical cost is no joke?  Last year alone we spent a pretty penny out of pocket for medications & doctor, dentist visits.  That's why I am trying to find a way to make some extra money that will not interfere with my medical situations. I always say every penny counts and in my book it really does.

Robbers

 Hello family well here's the story for the week. I almost got robbed. Not really but it felt like it. Here's the story. I went to the bank to transfer money from one account to another. The amount was large, but the money was going into another account.  I was not getting any of it. The bank which is a commercial bank wanted my bank card. showed it, then they wanted only me to put in my pin number for the bank card. My partner's name is on the account also could not do it for me. Then they wanted to send me an identification number through my phone so that I could take the money out to transfer it. I asked the teller it's my money why all this bull crap. The teller said that the bank is taking extra precautions because of the creative ways people steal other people's money now.

I told the teller well really, I was pissed at this point, so I was yelling at the teller telling him that your bank did not do all this when they were taking my money for deposits. They just took it now it seems to be a problem with me getting it back. I told the teller what you would do if I took all my money out of this bank. Ask me to bring my mother in for verification of my birth and tell you who my daddy was before I could get all of my money out of this bank. I also told him that If I get a lawyer, I bet there would be no problem getting my money then. I was mad. The teller apologized and said it was company policy.  He also said that I have never took that much money from my account before. My partner kept saying I told you to just write a check and deposit it into the account and problem solved. I know next time. Banks trying to take people's money and don't want to give it back. Almost like robbing people.

New York

 Hello all well here's the story for the week. You try to save money by being a frugal/cheapskate living in New York and you can't here's why.  I live outside of New York in a borough. I have 2 homes one I live in and one I kept because it was my childhood home. Thank God they are both paid off, but the property taxes combined is around $16,000 a year. The killer part about paying so much property tax is come income tax time I can only deduct $10,000 leaving $6,000 just out there. Besides that New York property taxes are way too expensive, and I can barely afford it. That's why I am selling my childhood home come springtime. At least that would be one property tax bill that I will not be paying. It's getting so you are forced to moves if you live in New York if you're not making 250 thousand a year.

My friend retired this week I am happy for her. She put in 30 years on the job. So, it was time for her to find something else to do with her life. Giving a job 30 years is enough don't you think?  For me I gave my job 20 and that was too much in my book.

Wow

 

Hello all well here's the story for today. Warning do not have oil heating. It will cost you a fortune. I heat my house with oil and I can say the price of oil right now at $4.56 a gallon is killing me. I just got an oil delivery the 2nd one in two months and the bill was over $700. Last bill was over $700. Yes, I have spent over $1500 in oil for just 2 months. That's crazy. I used to have a home that used gas heating to me that was much cheaper. I never had to call for a delivery. I went on a payment plan and things were ok. But this oil stuff is for the birds.

Trying to wrap things up for January. I am in search of a new cellular phone. Since mine is 3G and it will not be of no use to me soon. They say get the 5g phones but the cheapest I see are $500 and up. If you think that I will pay you $500 for a phone that I hardly use that's crazy. What kind of cellphone do you have?

Other than that, oh yea I am so selling my 2nd home. The reason that put it over the top for me was that I went over to check on my house and why is it that I see my neighbor peeing in the front yard. Like do you do not have a toilet inside your house. The quality of life is gone for me in that neighborhood. I am done. Now who wants to buy a house?

Going Crazy

 Hello all well here's the story so far. I am going crazy out of boredom. With a lot of things closed down and the virus on the rampage. I don't feel safe going to many places. So, my entertainment is the grocery story. Which is sad I know. I am reading a lot that I will say I enjoy and it's free getting the books from the library. As I am getting older it's time to downsize my life. I am shredding all my old papers, selling my 2nd home and getting rid of my old junk van that's just sitting in my driveway doing nothing.

Hopefully by December most of these things will be gone. I am also getting rid of my collection of vintage and collectable Barbies & G.I. Joes. Trying to get the money for my vacation for my big birthday which will be this year.

Other than that, I am glad it's quite around here. Which means no crazy and not too much worry.

First Week Of Jan 2022

  Hello all well here's the story for the first week of January 2022. I have been calling my heart doctor for an appointment. I left about 4 messages within a 2-day span. No return calls. He's not the only one as far as doctors not returning my calls. I am starting to think it's me. But with the virus going around and hospital crazy it could be that to. 

When I need it it's not there. It snowed today and I needed salt to salt the walkway and the stairs. I had two big bags last time I checked. But when someone went into my garage at night and took some of my stuff, they might have taken my big bags of salt as well. It's a darn shame when you have snow and no salt to melt the ice with. If you're stealing from me at least leave me one bag of salt you know we live in a city that gets snow.

Also had to cancel my cruise to Bermuda in Aug to many people getting Covid on the ships and to many places are not letting cruise ships dock in their ports. So why bother booking a cruise this year. The chances of getting covid-19 or other virus and not seeing the places you want to see is too great a chance.

So far, the week after all of this is slow. I am still doing my $2 a day challenge. Trying to get a covid test. Lines are crazy where I live it's a 2-4 hour wait just to get the test done.
