Can I Get A Room Please?

 Hello all well here's the story so far. Can I get a Room Please? I am trying to get free complimentary room in Caesars Or Hard Rock  In Atlantic city.  Which really the rooms are not free if you add on the room tax which is about $10 the resort fee $25 the electric bill fee $10 ( don't ask) a complimentary room is really not free at all. Anyway  both hotels  are quoting me crazy prices for 2 night stays . Caesars Atlantic City will give me a free complimentary for one night but the 2nd night it's $265. I told the women she was crazy if she thinks anybody going to  pay that for depressing Atlantic City. They don't even charge that much in Vegas Caesars. Which is much nicer. I told her forget it.

Then I called Hard Rock in Atlantic City and they quoted me  $140 the first night & $165 the second night. I told her I have complimentary codes for a free room. She told me that all the complimentary slots were filled. I said for August! I am calling in June for a August room Really???? 

I end up getting free 2 night stay at Resorts. But the reviews say Resorts Atlantic City is a dump. Might rethink were I am staying in August when it comes to Atlantic City. 

So right now I am on a mission to get a Free Room and stay cool It's about 95 Degrees in NY.

Celebrating

  Hello all well here's the story so far. I am celebrating my birthday this week by  making   cornbeef  & getting a tiramisu cake a small one. Oh I am also doing A mystery shop on that day as well. The company offered a price I could not refuse to pass up and I wanted the money so that it could go toward my cruise next year. My birthdays are like me simple, quite and grateful to be alive.

I went to get my car inspected. It's a requirement from the state for safety  only. Look I have a  a 28 year old car. I call her Betsy. She's old and rusty but still works. I will be getting a new one soon. Anyway I got Betsy inspected and I ask the mechanic how much. He said free if I show my vaccination  card.  So I saved about $30 bucks. I like free stuff.

To Darn Crazy

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. I got my  July property taxes in for the house I am living in and for my rental. The house I'm  living in property taxes will be $9650 for the year. My rental property taxes will be $6500 for the year. I remember when my property taxes for my rental was $3000 for the year. Just a reminder I live in New York. I will be paying $16,150 for 2 places in property taxes. Now you see why I want to sell my rental I can not afford to keep a house that sits empty. No I am not renting it out anymore because I don't trust tenants to not take me to court like the last two did over security deposits. I quit being a landlord getting to old for the bull crap.

Also I told you about the plumbing problem. So that's another couple thousand. Thank god we have my partners pension and social security. Or I would be screwed right now. I can not afford all these expenses coming at me at one time. There goes the vacation money that we saved last year. I would say that I have spend over $21,000 in taxes, home & car repairs. That's crazy!!!

I have put my car purchase on hold for now. My Car ( Betsey is about 30 years old) I just have to patch her up  and keep moving. Spending $25-30 thousand on a car right now is not in the budget.

Water & Money

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. Water cost a lot of money. I had a plumber come in to  replace a sink and faucet in my small bathroom. To get the faucet and sink that cost me $100. But the plumber the first one I called he wanted $500 just to walk in the door. The second plumber I called came  did the job but that cost me $777. I kid you not that's was the number.

Anyway when I asked him to look at the water pipes in the basement he found the water pipes were rotten and needed to be replaced or I would have a major water leak if it busted. That whole job will cost about $2500. and that's with the senior discount of $200 off.

                  That's why I say anything dealing with water is going to be expensive.

Farmers Market

  Hello all well here's the story for the week. Every summer my local park has a farmers market. The vendors offer fresh veggies, cakes, bread, ice pops, fish, wine and plants.  The first time they started it was packed. Now not so much. Yes you have fresh items to choose from but the prices are not so great. What they want for say a loaf of bread $5 you can get in the store for $4. I will confess I did my my zucchini bead from a vendor I like this past Sunday I love zucchini in bread form. That was $6 for a med size loaf.

Over all it was a nice day to get out of the house and  walk and enjoy nature. Not to much to talk about this week.  Oh yea Con Edison  is trying to make me schedule an appointment for my rental so that they can put in a new meter that they can read from the office. So many things you have to still do with an empty rental. it's really getting on my nerve. I am getting to old to maintain 2 homes. I am putting my rental on the market this year. I would rather have the money and not the hustle.

American Express Is....

 Hello All  well here's the story so far. American Express is a hot mess. Here's why I say that. I had a Amex bill for $160. That's just for use of the card. I think their fess are crazy but anyway. I called to use the points that  was on the card toward my bill. I have about 87,000 points on the card. Which I was going to use for  travel to Hawaii but since the virus hit Hawaii is on hold for now. So I called American Express and told them use some of the points toward my bill. They did they use 25,000  points. Which to me that was a lot of points to use. 

So I asked the women with the rest of my points how can I use them. She told me that I can use them in gift cards. So that's what I am going to do. Get a list of the gift cards I can use my points for and see what companies I use the most and start using my points to buy stuff I need and yes even want. I will be using some gift cards on my vacation next year to Bermuda god willing.  Why let them go to waste just sitting there. Am I right?
