Hello all well here's the story for the week. Did you know this? What I mean to say is that I got a letter from one of my banks stating that my account was dormant and that they would be sending it to the sate if I didn't come and make a deposit into that account. Mind you I been having direct deposit go in that account for years. It wasn't on the regular but it was every few months. That's wasn't a problem until recently. So you know I was pissed. I got the latter on Friday by Tuesday when I went to the bank the teller told me my account was in the dormant office in the bank. I still could deposit money into it but couldn't use the account for 2 days . Because they had to retrieved my account from that office. She also stated if I had another day the account would have went to the state's unclaimed funds department. I told her that my account had direct deposit in it for the year she stated it didn't count they needed to see a live person come in and put money into the account. What's that about . I know normally I put money in to all my account once a year because it use to be that bank account go dormant after 7 years now it's after 2 years.
The last thing I need to do is give the sate my couple dollars like they really need it. So beware. Check you bank accounts especially if you don't put money into on the regular. At least make sure every year you put a dollar in all your accounts. That will at least keep the state form getting ahold of your money for two years. This is a New York situation not sure how other states work, but you can ask your bank. Oh you do get a letter from the bank before they send your hard earned money to the state but how much time they give you to come in and put money on your account is questionable..
That's my story what do you think?
