Birthdays??

Hello all, well here's the story for the week. Birthday, do we still celebrate them anymore? I know I don't. I had a few birthdays this month, including mine. I celebrated the ones that were important. Mine was pretty quiet. I'm a quiet person, give me a good dinner with flavor, a dessert that's not too sweet, and a good book I'm happy. Gifts and things like that don't impress me. I'm grateful, just being able to wake up in the morning. That's the best birthday gift a person could get. Anyway, I got a check not for my birthday, but I have a school tax credit on my property taxes. The state sends you a school rebate check of about $250 a year to put toward your property taxes. which did I mention mine was about $10,000 a year.  The $250 check helps, but I would have preferred to just give me the credit off my taxes so I would be paying a lower tax bill than for them to send me a check.

July is here already. Any plans for the summer? I will be going on a senior cruise in August. I call it that because everybody who seems to be traveling now are senior over 60 years of age. That's me too! I don't mind, I like my seniors since I'm one of them, they tell good stories and have manners. Which is rare to find nowadays.

The summer with the heat index over 100 degrees in New York. Has gotten me lazy. you know when things need to be done in the house, and you just don't feel like doing them. That's me, I need to do stuff, but I just don't have the energy. It's to darn hot to move.

So that's my story, what do you think? Oh, Happy July 1st!

Owning Your Land

Hello all, well here's the story for the week. Owning your own land is the right choice. Why do I say that property? Taxes, especially here in New York, are killing people. Me especially. I got my property tax bill for the year, which was over 10,000. the city was nice enough, if you want to call it that, and said I could pay $2375.00 over the next couple of quarters until I make up the full amount. Whether way, the price is too high for a small piece of land I don't own. I must have paid the city millions through the course of the years for property taxes. If I were smart, I would have purchased a small piece of land in the south and kicked property taxes to the curb.

You know this is the moth that all the bills seem to get higher and come in at the same time as I mentioned above the property taxes came with the con ed bill and medical lab bills that I just can't seem to get rid of Since I have a illness that won't let me stop taking test. My medical bills will be ongoing for the rest of my life, so I have accepted that. Has long as my insurance covers the cost of it, I'm good in that area.

Did I mention that it was also my mother's birthday, so I treated her and a few people to dinner and other things that will cost me a bit when the visa bill gets here. Pray that extra money comes my way, or someone willing to sell me a piece of land dirt cheap!

That's my story, what do you think?

Happy June

Hello, all Happy June! well, here's the story so far for the week. June is becoming expensive for me. I had a mall party for my mother; it was her birthday this week. It was small, I took my aunt to see her since they don't live to close. They hung out for a couple of days and we all celebrated her birthday with her. It felt good that I could get them together since they are getting up in age. For the time I spent with them, nobody came out of their pockets for anything it was all on me, and it was expensive. But hey, who can put a price on family right?

The summer's here, and I'm not looking forward to the dreaded property tax bill that will be here soon. In New York, where I live, I pay around 10,000 for property taxes for the year, and what do I get from that payment? Nothing!! that worths while. I looked at all the tax exemptions that I could get. I did manage to get some and others for some silly reason I don't qualify for. One thing I will say is never move to New York, it's a greedy city, always taxing or finding you for silly stuff. Oh, yeah, almost forgot to tell you I was happy this month only got one Con Edison bill it was expensive, but at least I'm not paying two bills for two different properties since I sold my rental. I look at it as a win, win it comes to saving some money since my rental con Edison bill was about $200 or more a month for an empty house. See, I told you New York was expensive.

Well, that's my story so far So what do you think?
